Chatten Associates head-aimed vision system provides a 300% to 400% increase in tele-operations effectiveness, compared to any other system (1).

The technology we originally developed for DARPA is now commercially available. Our Head-Aimed Remote Viewer (HARV) has been tested on many unmanned systems, from small military robots to 72 ton bulldozers.

Video of these tests is available on this web site.

The gimbal in the remote HARV unit (shown below) exactly duplicates the operator’s head motions. The sense of tele-presence is so convincing that the operator’s vision processing is ”fooled“ into believing the operator is actually on the vehicle. The result is a three to four times increase in situational awareness and operating efficiency.

Our HARV unit is a high-performance, low-cost solution to remote control of ground vehicles. The productivity of remote operations remains very high, even when the vehicle is beyond the operator’s line of sight.
